Here is the so called sealant that was used in the cat pen, after a month it is still tacky and wet.
The brown stuff is the wood dust from when the electrician drilled
I also left the heater on all weekend when that was installed to try and dry it out! But no such luck. So Hubby has removed it all and replaced it with proper sealant which is drying as it should, tomorrow he is laying the flooring, after we figure where the leak is coming from.
Yes we have a leak from the floor/bottom sneeze barrier!
I tell you what this company who made this pen should be on Rogue Traders!!
Here we have Tango inspecting the workmanship that hubby is doing.
Just a few last few checks on the electrics
Passing on his thoughts on to Lily
Who then decides she has to finally enter and inspect it herself!
I have had a phone call from the Branch manager to tell me the supplies will be delivered next week. Which is good news.
Also some good news my sister who works at the Adoption centre is adopting another cat this weekend a small black female, who will be a companion for Milo, her persian cat. Her first Cat Pykelet was poorly and the vet felt it was kinder to not wake him after they examined him to find he had fluid on his lungs, He was 12 years old(approx). I will look for photos to share with you soon!
Top left is Tango(Ginger Tabby) we adopted him November 2009 from the Derby Adoption Centre, also top right is Bella( Black) who we adopted at the same time, they were not together but there estimated ages were 5/6months old at the time. We have had them 2 year, 2 months now.
Bottom of the photo is Lily, we adopted her November 2010 from the Derby Adoption centre. She was found at six weeks old at a JCB site and handed in, she was so tiny and a little feisty madam, she still is, but not so tiny.
This is a rare occasion when they are in the same room, never mind so close on the same bed!!
I am sure that I will share with you some more photo's and titbits about my little furbabies as I continue this blog!
When posting I always try and remain positive, but I suppose this wouldn't be an honest blog about being(or trying to be) a Cat Fosterer if you didn't hear about the upsets as well.
So far the pen is up, the lighting and heating is in, but no cats yet!
Well, because the company that supplied and put up the pen are totally useless, firstly they are ignoring the RDA's emails about repairing the damage they did to the garage, and Secondly I have no idea what it is, except the so called 'sealant' is still wet and tacky and comes up easily. So I have to remove all traces of it and my hubby is going to put proper sealant down, and put the flooring down!!
So looks like I will not be getting a Cat to look after this year !!
Yesterday I had a phone call from Viv, telling me that the pen will be arriving at 7:30am.
So I woke at 6:00am to make sure everything was clear for the workmen to have access to the garden. Well I am an impatient person, so when they finally arrived at 10pm, I wasn't pleased.
But 'Dennis' had arrived.
I am a self sufficient female, if I can do something myself I will, I don't always need a man to do things I can do myself. And I hate it when men think they know better! Like when I had a shed off a friend, myself and my sister got it through the garage and garden room and down the steps.
Well this man was adamant that the cat pen would not fit through, I told him it would, but no he swore that it wouldn't fit......
It fit with room to spare, even though they have broken some concrete we have to stop water flooding the garage, and they were banging it around into my back door (no need)
It is up and nearly ready!!
Not long now and the pen will be here.
I am currently sorting out the garage as the men will need to bring the pieces through there to the back garden. It is a good thing as I have took four large boxes of stuff to the tip, also some items of furniture that are no longer used.
But found that the garage roof is leaking. :0(
My own cats have been snooping round especially when I move furniture. Wondering what is going off!
On November 8th 2011, I am expecting DENNIS the Cat Pen to arrive and be built.
It will go on our patio that is already there.
Ignore the mess, that won't be there next week, and the weeds are already gone.
I wonder how soon after that, when I will get the first resident/s for the Dennis.
I have volunteered for the Derby adoption centre branch of Cats Protection for nearly two years, working occasionally as a catttery assitant, although I haven't done that in a while.
Also in the small shop onsite at the weekends. I also try to do as much fundraising as I can.
I am doing a sponsored lose weight this year so far I have lost two stone, and raised £175.
I do events and have done a few car boots in aid of Cats Protection.
But due to the distance to get to the Centre, I cannot help as much as I would like to, So I enquired about becoming a fosterer earlier on in the year.
And I was contacted in August 2011 by the Derby and District branch.
So here I am waiting for the day to come when I can help out even more.
